Review : The Willows : Haven by Hope Collier

The Willows : Haven
by Hope Collier

When tragedy strikes, seventeen year old Ashton Blake sets out on a cross-country road trip, leaving the comforts of Malibu for the mountains of Kentucky. Along the way, she encounters Gabe Willoughby—the mysterious drifter with eyes like the sea and a knowing smile. Getting to know Gabe raises questions about her past. But no secret can be buried forever, and Ashton soon finds herself in a world where water is air and myth becomes reality.

Just as Ashton comes to accept her newfound heritage, she’s summoned to fulfill a treaty laid down centuries before — a treaty that will divide her love and test her loyalty. In the end, her future isn’t her biggest concern, her humanity is. To run may mean war, but is she strong enough to stay?

About the Author :

Hope Collier was born in Harlan County, Kentucky. Growing up in the Appalachia, she quickly learned that a good imagination, along with the ability to outrun the neighbor's cantankerous dog, was essential to survival. Hope wrote and illustrated her first book at the age of six and never stopped writing. She now lives in central Kentucky with her husband, two daughters, and a menagerie of pets. When not spending time with her imaginary friends, you're likely to find her stalking other writers on Twitter or searching out new ways of fitting square pegs into round holes.

Review :

This is a book you will want to read! Amazingly well written. Good strong characters who have depth. Story line is full of adventure, mystery, fun and love. I thoroughly enjoyed going along for the ride and exploring the new world Ashton is thrust into. I fell into this world so easily and it's because it was painted so well for the reader. You don't need pictures or any of that, it's described so well that you can see it. The twists and turns Collier throws at you you won't see coming! This is a book that is great for young adult readers to any ole age.

I cannot wait to see what happens next so I am trying to patiently wait for The Willows: Thorn!!

HAVE A LOOK AT some amazing Valley pics :)

Sneaky Peek

Blurb for Thorn (book 2 in The Willows series):
The Troubling Past:
One girl’s choice shouldn’t have the power to change fate, but for Ashton Blake, that’s exactly what it meant when she fled the Dryads. Trading one gilded cage for another is a far cry from freedom however, and Ashton knows escaping The Valley won’t absolve the treaty or her duty to fulfill it.

The Disturbing Present:
Reunited with her own kind, Ashton begins to uncover too many long-buried secrets — secrets that not only challenge what she knows of her parents’ history but the reality behind those who hid it from her. But trying to resurrect the past only further threatens her already unstable happily-ever-after. Ashton quickly realizes her closet isn’t the only one with skeletons … and some ghosts refuse to be laid to rest.

The Unsettling Future:
As the search for truth continues, a myth of a possible alternative to the treaty is uncovered. Learning her life isn’t the only one at stake anymore, Ashton reconvenes with a former nemesis who holds the answers to all her questions — or so she’s led to believe. But when the one thing she’s asked to give up is the key to her potential freedom, Ashton is forced to decide between saving her future or sacrificing her friend.
